I had to call for emergency septic services to have it pumped and taken care of. That's when I learned that I had overlooked some of the signs that the tank needed to be emptied. Here's An Overview Of Wastewater Aeration Treatment Systems And Their Benefits

Wastewater is water containing contaminants and is generated from industrial, domestic, and agricultural settings and other activities. Technically, the term wastewater is another name for sewage. This type of water can be recycled and reused for other activities instead of going to waste. That also helps minimize the levels of sewage waste. However, the water must undergo a secondary treatment process before it's suitable for use. One of the most effective water treatment methods is aeration. Wastewater aeration treatment involves adding air directly into the water, which facilitates the consumption of pollutants by aerobic microorganisms. The process also enables the suspension of solids from water and prevents the formation of sludge that can be difficult to eliminate. Wastewater aeration is a popular water treatment method due to its cost-effectiveness and eco-friendliness. Before you embark on wastewater aeration, you should understand that different systems exist, and your choice will depend on the amount of water you need to treat, among other factors. Here is an overview of wastewater treatment aeration systems and their unique advantages. 

Diffused-Bubble Aeration 

This is one of the most popular types of aeration systems that involves injecting a certain amount of air into the wastewater using air pumps, blowers, and diffusers. Air pumps send compressed air through numerous airlines to the diffusers, usually installed at the bottom of a tank or a lagoon, to achieve greater coverage. Two types of diffusers are used in this type of aeration, i.e., coarse and fine bubble diffusers. Coarse bubble diffusers have large holes to produce more turbulence in the wastewater. On the other hand, fine bubble diffusers have small holes that enable them to produce tiny bubbles, giving them great oxygen transfer efficiency to reach the maximum surface area. Diffused-bubble aeration offers better efficiency for deep tanks, which is common in domestic and industrial settings. 

Packed-Tower Aeration System

This type of aeration system entails a tower filled with packing materials consisting of small ceramic or plastic pieces. Under this system, the wastewater drops from the highest part of the tower while air is blown upwards against the direction of the water. That allows the contaminants to move directly from the water to the air, making it a straightforward wastewater aeration system. The main advantage of packed tower aeration is that it easily eliminates volatile contaminants, whereas it's easy to maintain and control the system's efficiency.
